Linda is a past president of the Boulder Professional Women which was established in 1931 to promote full participation, equity, and economic self-sufficiency for working women. BPW has been a leader in passing much of the landmark civil and women's rights legislation of our time. The Colorado Federation of Business and Professional Women's Clubs Inc. (BPW/Colorado) was also established in 1919. In 2006, Linda received BPW's Woman of the Year award.

The Community Foundation Serving Boulder County

www.commfound.org

Linda maintains a donor advised fund with the Community Foundation and encourages local philanthropy by participating in various programs of the Community Foundation, including the Culture of Giving, and Social Venture Partners Boulder. She served on the Millennium Trust Steering Committee.

The Community Foundation honored Linda in 2001, when they started an annual award named after her mother, Patricia Shoemaker, a dedicated community volunteer. The "Pat on the Back Award" annually recognizes individuals who have given extraordinary, but often unsung volunteer time in caring for the community.

In 2001, the Brett Family Foundation partnered with the Community Foundation to produce the Catalog for Giving, a bi-annual publication, which features the work of 11 local nonprofits serving youth and their families.
